My wife's Kawasaki 454 gets 32hp from 450cc! One ci is 16.3cc so 27.85ci, scale
up to 327 and it'd be making ~375.68hp...

In '89 Kawasaki made a big deal about the 454 (a "woman's bike") being able to
handily beat a Corvette in a quarter mile.

The change was in the early 70's, and GM grossly over-estimated hp
before that.  Ford and Chrysler weren't much better, but GM was the
worst (no alternator, no oil pump, no water pump, etc).

Actually, 300 hp from 327 ci isn't all that good anyway -- my 72 280
SE gets 232 hp from 276 ci, after all, and the 3.5L M117 got the same
hp from 215 ci.  And that's as installed, with all accessories
including tranny.

Not to say the 327 was a slug by any means, but not record output per
cubic inch!
