Pete
That was exactly what I thought, but I didn't want to show off too early. I just sat back and giggled at the wild guesses but would have posted the answer within two or three years if no one else guessed right.

You and me, we plenty smart.

Subject: [MBZ] Answer for O/T Concrete Mixer Trivia,Don't Read if you so desire

First, I want to apologize to those folk(s) that were bored by this thread. I was sure when I asked that the diverse knowledge of this group would enjoy the brain tickler. I've lurked while guns, politics, mac computers and moose have had longer threads. If the subject in the header is boring to me, I just pass it over....

So stop reading if you really don't care about the answer.

Drum Roll.....................

The drum on the mixer is circled and supported by 2 very large mild steel rings which are welded to the drum. Those rings a nestled {and cradled} by relatively small hardened roller bearings. If the truck were to be driven with the drum stationary, those small bearings would quickly flat spot and or deform the huge ring. Those, the drum is always kept turn while the truck is in motion.

We now return you to your regular scheduled programing.
