[MBZ] Bilstein vs Monroe shocks on a 80 SD

My kid is tearing up my 80 300SD.  The latest is a broken shock.  It 
looks like the bottom washer on the top mount broke, and the top of the 
shock is sticking up about 4 inches.  The Monroe shocks are about a 
third the price of the Bilsteins.  Is it really going to matter in a 25 
year old car?  I'll be driving it from now on mostly.  His 84 SD is 
finally on the road.  Thanks
