Hogwash. My cummins smokes as much as my powerstroke. Actually, for a while, the cummins smoked like a freight train because it had a fawked turbo. It has roughly 1/3 the miles of the ford.
Shoot, even the 6.2 is a clean burner unless you're on it hard up a hill towing a load. Beware painting with a wide brush.
