My 240D would start at -10F if it had Delvac 1 (or Mobil 1 5w40 which is the 
same stuff) but wasn't happy about it, I suspect thats about as cold as it'd go.
My 190D with 5w40 M1 starts fine at -10F, I don't  know the cold weather limit 
on that car.

I use Delvac 1300 in the 240D now since it leaks bad and won't support long 
duration oil changes anyway.

In Cold weather, my M/B diesel much prefered DELVAC1.  No starting
issues at -10 with no plug in.
