eBay doesn't have to improve their business model, or worry about others', as long as they enjoy the tremendous name recognition that they do now. I have noticed that among a majority of the non-techno-geeky people that I know, eBay is literally synonymous with online shopping---it's the first and the last place they go to buy anything, and it never occurs to them to look anywhere else.
