You have bad glow plugs or something else wrong -- my 87 300D fires
up with 2 seconds of cranking (or less) at 6F after waiting for the
glow plug light to go out, then another 5-10 sec. Fires on all six,
too.
If your GP lamp isn't coming on or is flashing, you have at least one
and probably more than one bad (open or high resistance) GP.
