Congrats. Those kind of projects always take longer than forecast. At least you can see the end now.

A week later - the update:

The clutch disk pilot tool arrived Monday, and the proper sized clutch disk
arrived Tuesday, so we were all set for this weekend. We got the clutch
installed, the engine and tranny mated, drive shaft with new flex disks
installed, the shifter linkages in place (hopefully correctly), and went to
re-assemble the exhaust. Found that the rear section of the exhaust that
wasn't cracked at the front flange, had been stolen from under the gold car
during the week. So we patched the cracked pipe that we had, no microwave
steel was handy, so we used a strip from an old license plate, a couple of
clamps, and lots of muffler goo.
Got the engine re-connected, filled with coolant, then called it a day,
since it was dark.

Today, we bled the brakes, the clutch, installed the serpentine belt, fan
shroud, etc., bolted the wheels and new tires on, and were ready to
re-install the battery.
This is when we discovered that the key to the car is missing. my son spent
most of the rest of the day looking for the key. Never did find it. We'll be
placing an order with Rusty tomorrow ---
He also discovered that the under dash panel didn't fit due to the extra
pedal, so took the snips to it, and got it installed.

Bottom line - so close, yet so far from driving it!

There are several mystery vacuum lines, and some connectors on the IP that
have no wires -- this is not new, both cars were in this condition when we
got them. We need to find a 201 FSM CD set --- anyone have an extra?

Crap - the proper sized clutch disk didn't arrive today. Two day air
doesn't count for much when it takes them two days to get it to DHL. We're
working outside - it's been beautiful weather so far, but it's raining now,
and we're supposed to get 1-3 inches of snow tomorrow. Guess the cars will
be sitting till next weekend. Crap!

Got the front brakes re-done, moved the nut plates for the standard tranny
rear cross member to the blue car (4 instead of the 2 used by the auto
tranny). Changed the oil in the standard tranny, moved the only engine stop
from the gold car to the blue one, and other minor things. I think all we
have to do now for the blue car is install the clutch (if it ever gets
here), bolt the tranny to the enigine, and install the package. The son
found a sale on Yokohama Avids - 4 tires for $160, ready to go, so jumped on
it. It should be a decent car when we get it running.

Still haven't decided whether to re-assemble the gold car, or part it out.
