Welcome to the club, at least you didn't have to do it sitting in the snow...

I used nylock nuts just to be sure but I'm sure regular with locktite or a 
lockwasher would be fine.

Thanks for the suggestion, Curt. 
Total cost slightly under $6, including a
new 1/4" drill bit and 
stainless steel bolts / washers / nuts.

Car looks a little 
prettier now (but not much).
