On one of my first posts I asked about a switch on my '74 (turns out it controlled the seat belt relay), and Peter I think pointed out that it would deter theft (along with making the car start-able) so I should leave it.
Fast forward to this afternoon, I get this e-mail from our neighbor neighborhood. I follow their e-mail list, as crime trends seem to either start in our neighborhood and go there or vice versa. 'Hood in question is at its far point a half mile from my house. Having read the mail, the first thing I am doing is checking my insurance policies. I am also thinking I should install my own surreptitious switch on the '77 300D, at least until I actually fix the vacuum locks. Any wiring suggestions? It was a crime of opportunity, for I carelessly left my doors unlocked. Alas, the one day this year that I took my IPod in the car, which is also why I forgot it was in there. I just want to urge everyone to start being vigilant and careful again, especially now that the weather is warm, if you have gotten slack like me. They will be excited to find more tonight and in the coming weeks.
