That does not appear to be the way that they teach architecture. My elder son 
is just about finished with his
Master's Degree in Architecture and he has often been critisized for being too 
practical. I think they should teach
function too but that does not seem to fit with the university part of the 
training. All they appear to want is the
creative side. I guess they expect them to learn that part once they get into 
the real world. Of course, I also
think that the "starchitects" who make the creative designs and get the work 
also have a crew of worker bee
architects back at the office who have to figure out how to actually build it.
