I am only about 75 miles from the US border but I don't think using a US provider would be cheaper. I would get hit with roaming charges here for using a US phone like I do if I go to the US and use my Canadian phone. That gets expensive.
I am not really complaining about the cost of my basic cell phone. I just don't think I want to spend what it costs to use an iphone here. Cannot really say I need one either, but they do look cool in the commercials. My wife is planning to acquire an ipad or a kindle. She likes the idea of the electronic books. Advantage of the ipad is that it does much more.
