Yes, my son got T-boned in our '84 300D Turbo a few years back. They (Farmer's) tried hard to lowball me. They used a company to do the appraisal of my car that had paid a huge fine in another state (without admitting guilt, of course) for undervaluing appraisals. One thing is to look up the laws and policies of the insurance commission in your state. That will give you a basis for what your legal rights are.
I wrote them a long letter documenting the prices of similar cars in my area. They tried to use comparables that were very far from my home, contrary to state regulations. I threatened to pull my business from Farmer's, who is also my insurer. I threatened to file a complaint with the state insurance commissioner's office. They caved.
