Grease in the hub can only come from the wheel bearing or the outer axle joint, 
and probably not the outer joint, since it would have to travel through the 
bearing to show up on the brakes.

Time to change the wheel bearing -- pull shaft, unscrew retainer, drive out 
bearing, press new on int, re-install axle.  

Might not be a job you want to do at home.
