Hendrik, Too bad you didn't get to visit the Hearst Castle. We had an MB meet down there some years back when I was living in San Francisco and it was awesome. The place is so big that there are several different tours one can take, as there is no way to see it all at once.
Probably the best one is an evening tour that's done a few times a month that has people dressed in period costumes portraying Hearst's guests like Clark Gable and the like. I haven't been on this one but people have told me it's pretty cool. Sorry you got scammed while you were here. No doubt a result of being in a big city. Based on the time I've spent in Oz, I would agree - our countries are very similar in many ways. Personally, I liked yours better, but then again, I was never there more than a couple of weeks at a time. Glad you had a chance to visit, as now you can say you've been here.... To a certain extend my fears where confirmed, that overall the US is like Oz only bigger but there are lots of little differences. Anyway I gotta get unpacked, time doesn't stand still and I have to now pay for the trip by going out and digging stuff.
