No AC. No fluid coupling either as this is a 240D.
I've thought about the aux fan but I have my doubts that it would provide 
enough air flow at speed to make a difference. Remember this is only a problem 
at speeds ABOVE 60mph, theres lots of airflow over the radiator at that speed.

I'd thought about a water mister too but my conclusion has repeatedly been that 
to make it worth it for an hour commute I'd need so much water that the weight 
of the water would become a problem. Its easier just to drive slower...

Yesterday's commute showed that the new radiator hoses and cap probably helped. 
On the way to work it was cooler than it has been (low 80's instead of mid 
90's) and I could run as fast as I wanted (well as fast as a 240D can) with no 
troubles. On the way home I could run faster than I could before (back in the 
mid '90s for temp) but still had to ease off to keep the temp in check.
I need to go buy a 1 1/6" wrench but today I'll install the oil cooler again. 
Monday we'll see if it makes that much difference.

Two questions:

Do you
 have AC and are you using it?

2nd Question, if you do not have 
working AC do you have the AC aux fan? Put a switch in to permit you to 
manually
turn it on so you have more airflow through the rad.

Also
 a suggestion to make sure that the main rad fan is working correctly. 
Fluid coupling OK?

Another possible answer if you only have 
issues during really hot times is to put in a simple system to spray 
some
water onto the rad. I think some people have used a windshield 
washer setup with a pipe accross the top of the rad
with small holes 
drilled in it. Turn on the pump and spray some water onto the rad - 
should help bring temperatures
down somewhat.

Drag racers used
 something like this to cool the engine after a run down the track. I am
 sure I saw this in a Car
Craft mag years back.
