I was going to say the same, I've got a '52 Farmall that hasn't seen leaded fuel in 20+ years. Hasn't ever had a lead substitute either.
I was told that years of running on leaded fuel hardened the valve seats so they aren't a problem now. The same source also said if any head work is done hardened (sodium filled?) should be installed so no problems will happen in the future. -Curt Date: Fri, 23 Jul 2010 19:14:31 -0500 From: Peter Frederick <psf...@earthlink.net> To: Mercedes Discussion List <mercedes@okiebenz.com> Subject: Re: [MBZ] 450SL Message-ID: <5e9795d1-d891-481d-b2b5-9dcef9ffd...@earthlink.net> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; delsp=yes; format=flowed Unleaded premium will be fine. In fact, it will work BETTER than leaded fuel, since you won't beĀ polishing off the valve seats and honing marks with lead oxide.
