This one was from PA - wheel bearing needs replacing.  Hopefully Kroil will 
make bolt removal easy so I don't need a ball joint (if the blue wrench is 
needed).  The shop said maybe just leave it since all I did was twist the head 
off.  I may and worry about it when I need a ball joint.  Not sure what a 
Subaru knuckle costs - will check!

I did the exact same thing on My 2003 Outback about 3 weeks ago but I did
not use the impact, I did it with the breaker bar. The car is from Chicago
so I attributed it to  corrosion and low grade asian materials. I drilled
and tapped and replaced the bolt. Were you R & R'ing the CV?
