I agree with you to some extent, however, anything you buy used is going to need to be cleaned up, adjusted and aligned. I have found it's better to have one rebuilt by Ed and company or buy one from them outright. I believe they do rebuilt/exchanges, too. At least they used to for some models.
I have done a couple of rebuilds with Becker, and the difference in the units before and after rebuilding is really amazing and well worth the expense, I believe.
