On my '87 TD, I simply plugged the hole and then tapped into the small
vacuum port coming off the top of the vacuum pump, ran longer piece of
tubing to get vacuum where needed.

I did this on the 560 SEL, and Shoe Goo, epoxy, etc., just won't hold up
in the heat.  The only thing that worked was to grab a miscellaneous
junkyard line, then use the heat gun to soften the tecalan tubing to
swap parts.  (Or buy a new one, of course!)
