I bought a trailer, has electric brakes and a round plug for lights and brakes. My 2000 Suburban has a round plug receptacle, hooks up fine. My 96 Chebbie truck has a 4 terminal flat plug. I think I can find a 4 plug <--> round receptacle adapter, or should I get another round receptacle and wire it in as well? Will that work the brakes (do they work off the lights or is there actually a brake circuit on the newer truck)?

The brakes take some pretty good power. Won't run off a 4 wire light system.
Is there a knob somewhere on the burb that adjusts the voltage to the brakes?
If not, you might only be running the lights.
Factory towing package on most trucks gets you a round Pollack style connector and a 4 pin flat adapter, but no brake controller. I haven't shopped around for a few years, but the Prodigy was one of the best controllers to buy back when I paid attention.
Looks like there's a Prodigy 3 now. Don't ask me what's different from the P2.
