I flew on some of these aircraft in both Russia and Czech shortly after the 
iron curtain fell.

It was like riding a bus in South or Central America, literally.  Chickens and 
goats, the nastiest food with black bread in a greasy paper sack, people 
boarding when and where they wanted, people up and around throughout the 
flight, ugh.

Not for the faint of heart, for sure.
