Patience everyone: it has been a long string of diesels since I last had a
distributor out of a gas-powered car...

So I removed the dizzy from the M115 to see why it had jammed. One thing I
noticed immediately upon removal is that the drive bit at the base of it is
VERY loose and can be tilted axially by a good 10-15 degrees. It seems improper
that the only thing connecting it to the dizzy shaft is the locating pin, but
what do I know... There's also a multi-millimetre gap between that drive bit
and the remainder of the dizzy shaft. It can be pushed up quite easily. The
shaft itself and the rotor do not seem to have any play. The whole thing
rotates easily, but i have not yet dismantled it to inspect the flyweights.

The body of the distributor appears to have been fiddled-with in the past, as
it has two holes for the points wires, one of which is clearly a hack.

Is it seeming like I should think about a replacement dizzy?

Pic attached showing the angle that can be achieved at the drive bit.
