Close, but off by one digit. Don't put DOT3 brake fluid in, even for flushing. It swells the rubber and you will be buying new hose when the clutch won't return. ONLY USE DOT 4 on MB brake and clutch systems. (unless you convert to DOT 5.

I think you would be ok getting the spray cans of brake parts cleaner, then flush with fluid and refiil.

Only Dot3, or you'll be replacing every line.
Get a few pints at the dollar mart and use them to flush, then flush in the
good stuff.

Actually, "clutch line", not "brake line" this time - but I'm
 thinking about brakes too.

So I'm about to replace the clutch master and slave cylinder
 (parts in route from Rusty).

So while I have the cylinders off the line, I was thinking it
could be a good idea to flush any rust, crud, etc.

Any suggestions on a suitable fluid?

Water? I'm concerned about getting it _all_ out before the
 real stuff goes back in.

Brake fluid? Will it dissolve any of the crud?

 Denature alcohol?

 Acetone?

 Diesel/kerosene?

 Thoughts and suggestions welcome.
