The market is so screwed up right now I just dont want to say. Might be worth 1k, maybe more, maybe less. Look around the net and see what they are selling for.

Also, daughter has already claimed the '95; with my luck, I add another much
better looking car, and she'll claim both!

So no one has an opinion on the market for a solid but cosmetically
challenged '72 280SEL?

Max, that is your DAD's car! If you don't adopt it you will forever be kicking yourself. And your daughter is only a few years away from driving....

My father is offering a 'family price' for his '72 280SEL. It is very
straight and rust free, and the interior is fresh (transplant from a
different car), but has been poorly painted in a two-tone scheme which is
now flaking off. Original color looks like ivory, some PO painted the
lower
half a caramel color. So, to make the car really nice, it will need to be
sanded and painted.

It has an automatic transmission, fuel injected V8, after-market AC, and
he's put a lot of time and $$ into fixing it up and is now bored with it.
He bought it in AZ a few years ago, so it is supposedly rust free, but I
have not yet seen the car.

I need a third MB like I need a hole in my head, but I really like the
style
of this car. SWMBO also thinks it is a beauty, but she is also leery of
taking on another "project". I'm thinking that an $80 roller-paint job
would be in order, nice little summer project to keep me off the streets.
