I looked in the EPC and that car should have 7" offset all around, so I suspect those are aftermarket wheels.

I called the fellow. They are off a 2000 C230, 7.5" width for the front two and 8" width for the rear two. I didn't ask what the offsets were.

That's odd. Tire rack claims it came with 205/60-15 or 205/55-16 all around. When I shop for 15" rims, they want to sell me 15x7, which was the size MBZ put on my 2.3-16 with 205/55-15 tires. Pity if they are really that wide, I thought those looked like the 15x6.5 original wheels from a late W124.

Do they have pick-n-pull yards in Santa Fe? What do W124 wheels cost there?

This page says the Approved Rim Width is 195 mm = 7.68", so the front two would work for the tire.

Tirebuyer's rim widths are messed up. For a 195mm tire, it says 195mm.
For a 205mm tire, it says 205mm. See the trend?
If you look at TireRack's specs, they will show an acceptable rim fit range for the tire, almost always 5.5 to 7" for a 195. They'll also show a measured rim width, which is the rim it's mounted on for the section width given in the specs.

Maybe somebody can check the EPC, but I think if a 2000 W202 had staggered 15" rims on it, they weren't original.
8" kind of requires a 225 tire, not what you want for snow.
