I am checking it out on e-Bay. @ $60 for a matched 2 x 2 GB for this one
[optimal according to the manual]. Any reason I couldn't use 4 x 1GB
instead? 2GB DDR2 PC2-4300 is what is called for, but I see a lot of DDR2
PC-5300's out there. I assume they are newer model chips, but would they
work OK in my older machine?

If the onboard video uses system ram, you can get funky available memory
numbers like that.
You need multiple cores and/or multiple processors for speech recognition to
work smoothly. Windows is a resource hog, but pales in comparison to Dragon.
