I've never put anything other than Mobil 1 oil into the crankcase (currently running the Truck / SUV). I am using the charger as a prophylactic because I often have to run a lot of short trips during the day (no more than three miles round trip), so the alternator doesn't have time to recharge the battery fully from all of those pre-glows and engine cranks. ... It doesn't become critical unless the temperature is at or below zero, so with the temperature in the mid teens I am just being cautious at this point.
