a couple of questions.

Are you sure it won't rev up? Could it just be the tach does not work right?

Any check engine light? Can you plug in the OBDII unit and see if it gives you any codes?

I am looking for a van, so I found this. I was wondering if anyone knows enough about modern dodge gassers to be able to diagnose this:

131k miles 3.3L Motor 6 Cylinders. Overall its in good condition, runs and drives. STARTS QUICK, SHIFTS SMOOTH and DRIVES WELL, but one thing is that the RPMs won't go higher than 3000. I have no idea why, don't know how to fix it and can't afford to, i wish i were a mechanic. Anyways, i bought another car now, and hoping to sell this to someone who can fix it or is okay with staying under 3k RMPs. Like i said - drives great both in city and highways. Picks up speed with no trouble, as long as it's a slow acceleration. Motor sounds good, transmission shifts well, no oil leaks, or any unusual noise.

Is that a "limp home" mode? If not, is there an electronic module that needs to be replaced? Like the engine computer? The price is right if I can diagnose the problem.
