"Book" values are meaningless, and usually way low, for cars that are rare and/or were imported in limited numbers. I think there were maybe 1500 diesel wagons imported to the USA back in 1987 and I bet less than 5% remaining today are anywhere near as clean as this one. That was also the last year Mercedes imported ANY diesel wagon to the USA. I would have expected it to sell for mid-teens since it was almost entirely restored. $3615 wouldn't even cover the cost of the *parts* that were recently installed on that car. If you want the ultimate diesel wagon in the USA, you have exactly one choice... from almost 20 years ago.
