Folks
I'm currently running a netgear wgt624
i think i paid $1 or $2 for it in a thrift store
they probably cost $15 or less delivered on ebay
i've used linksys and i'm sure a few others, but the netgears are easy
to manage using a browser interface, so there's nothing to install on
a computer
in north georgia with lots of lightning and in a house with a lot of
100 year old wiring (really) and a recent service entrance, i probably
go through a router every 3 or 4 years, but can't point a finger to
the actual cause of failure. SEVERAL times when they've quit it's been
the wallwart power adapter (often 12 v) and i've replaced them with
thrift sore units with the correct voltage
We're running several older macbooks and a few desk machines and none
of them needs more than 802.11G, so who cares about a router if it
works
I'd like a usb port for an older epson photo printer, but haven't
found such a router for $2 yet.
i'm using ATT's slower dsl service
thanks,
xx rick
