Mercedes Benz E300 diesel

1999 E300 turbo diesel. 182k miles. Has transmission problem. Starts,
runs low gear & reverse. Won't upshift. Several mechanics looked at it,
said it's stuck in "safe mode".
$2500. Our loss. Good solid car, 33 mpg on highway, 24mpg around town.
