Wire? Yeesh. I hope you wrapped the tip well with electrical tape or something so that there wouldn't be any bare metal to scratch the inside of the drain. Seems like an ideal way to promote rust in an inaccessible place. I use the thickest weedwhacker line I can find, chucked in a rechargeable drill.
