I don't think he ever actually said the 124 wagon was a better car. More 
refined certainly but not "better".

Today I drove both my '84 190D and '78 240D, the 190D is certainly more refined 
but it lacks that certain something of the 123. All in all I enjoy having both 
of them.

These are surprisingly cheaper than the 123 wagons, despite being scarcer
and (according to Marshall Booth) much better cars.
