I was just checking my records, and this 233 MHz Mac G3
has been rebooted 7 times in the two years that it has
resided in my new computer room. It normally runs 24/7,
is my sole e-mail device and wherefrom I master the web
site, do all Photoshop/Illustrator work, etc.

Four power failures where the UPS was inadequate to
the task, two deliberate power-downs during longer
vacations, and once due to a CD-R image getting logically
stuck and un-dismountable during a Toast burning session.
(A vulnerability it has long had, but which is rarely
a problem.) Only once in two years due to software failure.
Take that, Microsoft! (The PC I am forced to use at work,
though now largely an xterm and Outhouse machine only,
can often make it about 2 weeks between reboots. Unless
it can't.)

Not bad for free! I believe I've been running it since
2005, that's when the HD was formatted anyway.
