For clamps that rarely need to be removed I like the crimp-on type.

VW uses these a lot; I have not seen them on my MBs but I like that they
don't pinch the rubber like the slotted/worm drive clamps can.  You can
buy a special crimping tool but I find that ordinary end-cutting
"nipper" pliers work well.
