For clamps that rarely need to be removed I like the crimp-on type. Example: http://www.germansupply.com/home/customer/product.php?productid=17371 VW uses these a lot; I have not seen them on my MBs but I like that they don't pinch the rubber like the slotted/worm drive clamps can. You can buy a special crimping tool but I find that ordinary end-cutting "nipper" pliers work well.
