Since I was not able to go to either RustyQ or CHowdahheadsQ, i took
up an offer to go sailing on a large lake.
This is a very unique 25' boat, a Skimmer. She is nearly
impossible to flip, as she is designed so that if she heels over too
far, the rudder comes out of the water, and she heads into the wind,
rights herself, and the sails luff until you gather your wits.
Others handled her for most of the trip, but I had a chance to pilot
her for a while as we tacked back to the harbor. She is yar! Very
easy to handle. I was told she was built in Natchez, MS, adapted
from a design over a century old. Nice looking boat too!
She comes about nicely. The wake looked like a very tight 90 degree
elbow on each tack.
