Until he can change the mask on the Drobo it will drop the request,
unfortunately.

You shouldn't have to reconfigure everything; unless the Airport has some
kind of security you should be able to set your management station to a
static address in the old subnet, browse to the Drobo, reconfigure Drobo
for the new subnet, then put the management station back on DHCP.

If you don't find it straightaway, nmap is a quick way to find lost network
devices.
