Cool. If you demand a formal hearing, he'll just make something up and you'll be totally unprepared for whatever he says. Your fault for letting the kid have a car without a recording device.

I'd ask for a formal hearing and immediately subpoena the dash video, hope the sound is usable and that Hunter isn't lying to you about the real reason for the ticket. If the video is against the kid, cut a deal, try for a diversion program that suspends the ticket unless he gets another one in the next year.
