The laws, procedures, and chances of winning vary from state to state and region to region. In some states you cannot go to court for a ticket without a lawyer, while in others you can often win just by showing up on the court date. Some states will even initiate a plea agreement by mail offering to convert a moving violation into a non-moving violation.
Nice idea about the dash cam. I wish I had one. Would have made an excellent youtube and court video and probably gotten a cop fired or demoted.
