I've always lived in houses that had forced hot water oil burner heat which
also provides our hot water. I find tank water heaters to be frustrating when I
stay somewhere that has one...

IMHO I will never again buy a tank type water heater. I now own tankless
water heaters and am very satisfied. I NEVER run out of hot water, my
operation costs are way down and the amount of space required for the
heater is not much larger than a desk top computer.

At the Ranch house propane is the material of choice since the Ranch is off
the grid [42 miles to nearest power pole. One hundred pound tank of propane
has supplied the house with it's hot water needs now for 4 months and still
running. The heater only comes on when water flows across the piezeo
electric turbine which self ignights the flame and I have 120 degree water
within seconds, for as long as I run the hot water tap.

When I close the tap, heater turns off... I don't pay to keep a tank of
water hot all day to not be used, yet have hot water instantly available.

Electric tankless heaters are available at both Lowes and Home Depot for
about the same price as tank type.. gas fired ones are significantly more
up front, but IMHO worth it. Got my gas tankless off of Fleabay, new , in
the box with manufacturers warranty.. much less.

Just thought I would pass it along. Nothing worse than having a hot shower
and not enough hot water..... or having to be the "hot water nazi".

Since the tankless doesn't store hot water, it doesn't store lime, rust and
corrosion so you even win on those points.. Great idea... my thanks to who
ever invented them.
Grant...
