A few months ago I bought the "Fascination: The History of the Mercedes-Benz Brand" 2-DVD set that the trailer promotes. The trailer is WAY more interesting than most of the actual product. They use a lot of company and ad footage, but the commentary totally misses the boat. It could have been done SO MUCH BETTER and that's really frustrating. No interviews, no details. Just a lot of stock with a vague narrative. Some of the German reviews of this have been so glowing that they can only have been written by employees of the production company.

On the other hand, as an assembly of MB stock footage it's not bad if you can get past the fact that they re-use a LOT of clips, and that there are some factual errors resulting from the English translation.

But here's the kicker. The DVD is available ONLY from the Classic Centre in Germany. Even German dealers can't order it; this was confirmed by calling the Classic Centre in Germany directly. The DVD itself was 30 Euros, plus 6.50 shipping INSIDE EUROPE. If you have it sent to the US or Canada, the SHIPPING ALONE is another 60 Euros! The order number for the NTSC version is B66046424.

I would say it's worth $30 (I had it sent to a German address), but I'd have been VERY irritated if I'd paid $100 for it. It's not nearly good enough to warrant that price.

It MAY be possible to get it from the new US Classic Centre in California. I know that MB Canada and MB USA don't have it and cannot get it through the parts channel.
