Ahh the adventure of Mercedes ownership. I don't have much time right now so I
just wanted to drop a note that the '85 190D has made it home to join the
family.
Its got some issues, the monovalve has been superceeded with a manual valve
(YUCK!) theres a toggle switch to turn on the A/C (which works by the way, not
that I'll care for another 6 months).
The towing was an adventure, getting the car on was a trick because of soft
ground. We lost both tire straps and one chain but didn't really notice until
we stopped for a break 100 miles later. Lost (totally gone) one of the brake
lights off the tow dolly, and basically drove 68mph top speed for 350 miles.

I think I'd be more tempted to say it was SUB-seded, btw!

Obviously the ACC control system is out of whack, and rather than fix it
(or more likely: _pay_ for fixing it) manual overrides were butched in.
It's sad, but if you're up to that level of work, repairing the system
that is there is a strong possibility.

Of course, I'm the guy that's trying to repair a trashed brass gear
with a welding torch. (Kids! Don't try that at home!) If I had a
mill, I'd probably just make a new one.

Towed with what? Hammie?
