I would say there are actually 3 levels of drives:

Cheap consumer drives - 1-3 year warranty

Better consumer drives - i.e. Caviar Black, 5 year warranty

Enterprise drives - 5 year warranty, usually designed for RAID arrays, i.e.
RE4
