You might try ag leader in Ames, IA they build the GPS tracking and self guidance systems too. JD builds their own. Ag Leader private labels for most of the rest. I had not heard Kinze was entering that market.

Kinze is a first rate place, I believe the old man kicked the bcket,
and it is now run by his daughter.

According to the information I got from their website
(http://www.kinze.com) and on a telephone interview, the old man (Jon) is
still running the company and his daughter (Susanne) is Vice President &
Chief Marketing Officer.

Kinzenberger is the guy who beat John Deere at the bigger better game.
That is not easy to do.

As I said to the HR person who interviewed me, seeders have progressed
tremendously since I was around them in Calhan, CO, in the late '80s.
Planting 24 rows of seed 30" apart at once is rather an impressive feat.

And now, they have the Kinze Autonomy Project:

Kinze Manufacturing recently gave the agricultural industry a glimpse
into its future with the unveiling of an autonomous planter that
operates without a driver in the tractor cab.

It has two video cameras, a differential GPS, and a lidar (light radar)
to keep it on track and keep it from running over things it should not.

He also was a red green guy. They built a lot to sell to John Deere
(Green ) guys, and International/Case IH (red) guys, but he has a very
impressive collection of IH (red) tractors.

I know they have done a lot of "repowering" of both red and green
tractors with large commercial diesel engines.

The bonus for SWMBO, is Williamsburg has one of the nicer "outlet
 Malls" in the country.

I saw that on Google Maps. Shirley had an uncle who was pastor of a
church there in the early '70s. She said it must have really improved.

Vermeer and Pella Corp are also good places to work. Deere should be
hiring, as that sector of the economy is strong.

If you get an interview at Kinze, let me know.

I don't know if Pella (they are the ones who make windows, aren't they?)
would be hiring electronic engineers like Kinze. Vermeer I have heard of,
but I'm not familiar with their product offerings. I'll have to take a
look.

I'm not holding my breath for an interview. I last heard from the HR
person a week-and-a-half ago. I called the recruiter in Topeka through
whom I found the opportunity this past Monday. She said the HR person had
been out sick part of last week but was in now and that she would call
the HR person and get back with me. I have not heard anything yet. I
guess I'll call again tomorrow.
