Some years ago while attending a business event in Nice, a partner company hosted at dinner in Prince Ranier's Motor Museum in Monaco (which appears to be the venue shown in the pics). Tables were set up on the upper level amongst the cars on display, and we could walk around with our bevvies and scope them out up close and personal. There was a carbon-fiber Countach sitting next to my table, it apparently was a one-off he had commissioned back when CF was outrageously expensive. The car was raw, no paint, and it looked like Darth Vader's own. They told us that all the cars were drivers, he would come over and grab one occasionally to take it out for a spin.

That was a lot of fun. A bunch of us wore tuxes then after the dinner we went over to the grand casino to check things out. They let us in but not past the lobby! I guess even though we were looking James Bondish, we were not sufficiently funded.

On another note a guy I knew some time ago (he married a friend I worked with in the Boston area) went to Amherst. He related that he showed up to his room as a freshman, green and not knowing much, his roomie was already there, they introduced themselves, the roomie was Albert Grimaldi. So they get settled in, he learns the guy is from Monaco, that was sorta cool as he never knew anyone from Yurp. So some time goes by and he hears people calling him "prince" but figured it was just some goofing because he was Yurpeen. Then after a while he asks the guy why everyone kept calling him "prince." So the roomie tells him his dad was Prince Ranier, and being his son, he was also a prince. So it finally starts dawning on the guy that his roomie was like this really high-end guy, though he just sort of a regular dude and did not act like a big shot or anything. Anyway, after that first year they moved on elsewhere though they still stayed friends and in touch after school. When I knew him he said they traded letters occasionally (this was before email) and he had visited him in Monaco and had a good time.

That 500SEC for 12k pounds looks like it could be a reasonable deal.
