I seem to remember somebody mentioning having a copper fuel line break at one point. I don't remember if that person ever admitted if they knew the trick to making copper survive as a fuel line (like in a Model A or a farm tractor is to have a loop in it. The loop takes up the vibration preventing the issue.

Or at least it has on my Super M for 60 years (hey, 60 years this year as a matter of fact) but I'll hold out for another 60 before I'm sure.

Factory was steel tubing on A, B, C, H, and M. (and probably the later Super series and eve on the x00 (400 for the M) ) I finally replaced mine with copper last year because it was so hard to keep it from leaking at the tank end (sediment bowl) and at the carburetor end. I put a ball valve above the sediment bowl and a tank drain too, since it sits around most of the time.
