I scored an Ingersoll-Rand G25 (with autostart capability). It looks to use a
Mitsubishi S4Q series engine that uses what looks to be a Bosch type "A" inline
pump (instead of the distributor type)

I've managed to get parts catalogs for the unit, but no real service
information; from the drawings I can see that it uses gears in the timing case
(no chain to stretch!), that it is a pushrod valve-train, and that it appears
to use solid lifters.

I'd presume that a dial gauge would be used to locate the lowest spot on the
intake cam #1, and that a half-turn of the crankshaft is needed between
cylinders (1-3-4-2), then go back and do the same with the exhaust. The
adjusters are on the push-rod end of the rocker arms, so I'd bet that lash is
measured under the valve end of the arm...

Does anyone out there have a service manual for the S4Q series that they'd
share? I'd like to confirm the adjustment procedures and to see actual numbers
for the clearances (the one thing I don't have!)

Obligatory Mercedes content–it looks like it will be a lot simpler to adjust
the valves on this engine.

Thanks much
