Have been using Mobil 15W50 for years in both 123 & 124 cars.
However i noticed last time i was at Wally's that the red 5qt. 15W50 no longer carrys a "C" rating, only an "SM". While Wally has the Diesel M1 5W40 for a few bucks more per jug it only has 4 qt.s not 5 as does the red 15W50, making it significantly more per quart. Can one run M1 with only an "SM" rating with out harming an 602 engine? What about its soot suspension and other Diesel required properties?
Thanks,
Danny, a long time lurker

According to Curt's oil analyses, provided by Larry T, the new M1 15w-50 is still ok, even though they dropped the C rating.

Curt, If I am wrong, please correct and expand.
