In theory, by going to a larger wheel but keeping the same overall tire
diameter, you can get better handling by making the sidewalls shorter.
Tire shops call this "plus sizing." Somehow this doesn't seem like a
major consideration on a 190, though. ;)
I've driven 100s of thousands of highway miles in 201s with 14' and with
15" wheels/tires. The 15" wheels/tires look a little better in my
opinion - THAT'S all! I switched my '85 from 15" to 14" wheels - and
NOTHING changed. The fuel consumption was IDENTICAL. The traction seems
identical. The ride feels the same. Changing from one BRAND/model tire
to another is a MUCH greater change!
